CHEROKEE — The Southeast junior varsity baseball team pounded out 10 hits, including three singles from Cade Ulery, to get past Galena 6-5 in the second game of a doubleheader at Cherokee on Tuesday night.
The Lancers fell 6-4 in the first game to earn a split with the Bulldogs.
In the second game, Lancer pitchers Steven Brisbin and Cody Rakestraw combined to hold Galena to just three hits while striking out 7 combined.
Brisbin also collected two singles in the winning effort as Southeast jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the second inning.
In the first game, Galena’s Zach Gougler belted a home run to help pace the Bulldogs.
Gougler also threw three innings and had seven strikouts to get the win in the first game.
For Southeast, Colton Phelps had a double as the Lancers had five hits over five innings.
Galena took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the third but the Lancers collected four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
